Free Tai Chi classes at UQ

The Confucius Institute at The University of Queensland has partnered with UQ Life to bring to our students and staff at UQ free Tai Chi classes each month on Thursdays until the end of semester. This is a new initiative in conjuction with UQ Life's new booklet, Mind.Body.Soul, your guide for wellbeing services at UQ.

The first of these free classes begin on Thursday August 16.

Originating in ancient China, Tai Chi is one of the most effective exercises for health of mind and body. Although an art with great depth of knowledge and skill, it can be easy to learn and soon delivers its health benefits. For many, it continues as a lifetime journey.

Anyone regardless of age or level of fitness can practice and benefit from Tai Chi. Loose, comfortable clothing and flat shoes should be worn to classes.

Tai Chi can help provide many benefits when practiced over a lifetime, including helping to:

Produce a refreshed, greater mental focus.

Create better sleep patterns.

Create good body posture.

Promote muscle fitness.

Dates (Thursday):

Time: 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

Location: Alumni Court (Grassed area between Building 7 and 8), St Lucia Campus.

Cost: Sessions are free to attend, no pre-registration required. Look out for signage at the Alumni Court.

Beverages will be provided after class to those who participate.
