Starting November 2021: UQ Staff Development Mandarin Course
2021 Staff Learning opportunity
In conjunction with UQ’s Institute of Modern Languages (IML), the Confucius Institute at The University of Queensland is offering sponsored places to UQ staff to engage in short-term Mandarin study. This learning opportunity is aimed at participants new to Mandarin language study. The course will be over eight sessions (total of 16 hours) commencing on Tuesday 2nd November with classes held from 1:00pm to 3:00 pm. This course will be delivered on-line.

About the Course
Facilitated with the support of the Institute of Modern Languages (IML), the Chinese (Mandarin) Short Course for Beginners aims to provide learners with the ability to perform basic tasks such as exchanging greetings, asking simple questions and recognising and understanding a basic range of Chinese characters. The course also aims to enable learners to develop an appreciation of cultural diversity.

- Successful applicants will be expected to attend at the majority of course sessions (exact number TBC). Attendance will be recorded. Applicants should therefore consider their availability to attend the classes prior to applying.
