Introductory Mandarin language course for UQ Staff
Mandarin is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. It is the native tongue of more than 10,000 international students currently enrolled at UQ.
Learning Mandarin is without doubt a highly rewarding experience. Speaking and understanding Mandarin will open new gateways and opportunities in relation to career development, travel and cultural understanding.
In conjunction with UQ's Institute of Modern Languages (IML), the Confucius Institute at The University of Queensland is offering fully sponsored places to UQ staff to engage in short-term Mandarin study. This learning opportunity is aimed at participants new to Mandarin language study.
This course will run over eight sessions 2 hours per session (total of 16 hours). Participants should plan to attend the majority of sessions to benefit from the course and therefore take into consideration their availability before applying.
This course will be delivered on Mondays and Wednesdays (2:00-4:00pm).

IMPORTANT - Application Notes
- Participants will be expected to attend at least 75% of the course (i.e. at least 6 of the 8 sessions). Applicants should therefore consider their availability to attend the classes prior to applying.
- Only current UQ staff will be eligible for consideration.
- Participating students will need to purchase a digital textbook for this course (approx. A$20-30). Students that attend at least 75% of the course will be eligible for a full reimbursement of this cost at the end of the course.
Registration is required by Tuesday 17th October. UQ Staff can register for this course through Workday Learning.
