Dr Geoff Wang received his PhD in Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering from the Northeastern University, Shenyang, China in 1990, focusing on iron- and steel-making. Before joined the University of Queensland in 1996, he was a visiting academic at the School of Materials Science in University of New South Wales for about 2 years. He has been a lead researcher in modeling and simulation of the Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering processes, and has significantly contributed to the research areas of coal utilization, coalbed methane (CBM) recovery, iron- and steel-making technology development, environmental sustainability such as carbon dioxide capture and utilization including CO2-sequestration with enhanced coalbed methane (CO2-ECBM) recovery. Over period of his academic career development, Dr Wang has established the strong collaborations with a number of Iron and Steel companies in China and Australia, and has extensive links with Baosteel – one of largest iron and steel companies in the world, and universities and research institutions both in China and Australia.
