Role
The Executive Dean is responsible for the academic and administrative leadership of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), ensuring that its Schools, Centres, and Institutes, contribute effectively to University’s goals in learning, research, and engagement.
Key duties include, though are not limited to, the following:
- Academic leadership. Working with the Associate Dean (Academic) and the Associate Dean (Research), the Faculty Executive Officer, the Heads of Schools, and the Directors of Institutes and Centres, to deliver an institutional culture that is high achieving, rewarding, and supportive.
- Governance. Set the strategic direction of the Faculty and oversee resource allocation. Ensure that appropriate structures and processes are in place for the governance of the Faculty Executive Committee and other key nodal points where collaboration and dialogue are needed to deliver optimal outcomes.
- Beyond the University. Engaging with national and international polices in relevant academic areas. Pursuing appropriate avenues to secure additional revenue for the Faculty. Enhancing engagement with corporate stakeholders, alumni, and other partners locally and globally.
