Public lecture: The poetics of Chinese cinema

The Confucius Institute at The University of Queensland is proud to present a free public lecture by renowned Hong Kong film critic and Head Programmer of the Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival, Ms Kiki Fung. As part of the 2015 Chinese Cinema Showcase, this fascinating lecture will include a presentation of the history of Chinese Cinema and highlight how poetry and aesthetics have shaped this medium over modern times.

In partnership with Schonell Theatre, the 2015 Chinese Cinema Showcase is an event held by the Confucius Institute at UQ offering exclusive free screenings of two contemporary Chinese films. For more information, please visit eventbrite.

More about Ms Kiki Fung

Kiki Fung is Head Programmer for the Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival and was in the same position for the Brisbane International Film Festival until 2014. She is also currently a contributor and writer for the Hong Kong International Film Festival. Before moving to Australia in 2010, she worked for the Hong Kong Film Archive for over eight years in areas of publication editing, programming and management. She is also a member of the Hong Kong Film Critics Society, has assisted in editing a number of publications on Hong Kong Cinema, whereas her film criticism has been published in books, film festival catalogues, Hong Kong newspapers and film magazines. She has served as a FIPRESCI Jury member for the Hong Kong International Film Festival, and been on judging panels for various film awards.
