Celebrating Chinese culture at UQ

20 April 2016

In conjunction with Mates@UQ, the Confucius Institute at UQ again celebrated Chinese culture with the UQ community in the Great Court over performance, cuisine and interaction.

The Confucius Institute at UQ, with its strong focus on cultural engagement, was pleased to provide an opportunity for students, staff and guests to experience important aspects of Chinese culture.

Commencing with an interactive Taichi demonstration delivered under the guidance of Taichi Master ZHOU, event participants were encouraged to learn basic Taichi movements.

Following Taichi, attendees were also invited to learn the process of Chinese dumpling making. Presenters explained the different seasonings and demonstrated the technique of folding dumplings, then invited students to try their hand at this traditional Chinese dish.

Lunch was provided as part of this cultural day, providing an opportunity to both enjoy a range of Chinese food and to socialise and connect with others who shared the same interest and passion for Chinese culture and language.

The Confucius Institute at UQ would again like to thank Mates@UQ and those that volunteered their time to assist at this event. For more information on upcoming events, go to either CI's Facebook page or the website
