In promoting linguistic research and Mandarin teaching practices, UQ CI was pleased to host China’s Fudan University Professor Lu Bingbu from April 1-3 at UQ’s St Lucia campus for a series of talks, meetings and engagements.
Professor Lu, an internationally renowned expert in Chinese linguistics, presented a public lecture ‘Simplicity as a principle of linguistic research’ during his visit, as well as spending time with Chinese teaching staff at UQ and from the broader community, engaging in discussions on language teaching practices and methodology.
Professor Lu, also a University of Southern California PhD graduate in Linguistics was a guest of UQ CI during his visit, promoting a pathway for exchange between UQ and leading universities such as Fudan University (Shanghai). UQ CI is a strong supporter of developing Mandarin teaching resources and professional development opportunities, and along with visits such as Professor Lu’s, also runs workshops each year for Queensland-based Mandarin teachers.
